Today marked the fifth time I've ordered take out or delivery. So far I've tried the Pad Thai (med) with Chicken and with Shrimp, Both were EXCELLENT and I really like the fact they work with diet restrictions (no msg/gluten free). I have also tried the crispy chicken, I wasn't a fan, however the chicken was extremely fresh and the sauce was good, but every time I eat something deep fried I feel like my body reminds me not to the next day, but that's just my preference :) The girls who answer the phone are always friendly and helpful in answering any questions, I did pick up one day and I saw the staff gathered in the dinning room and it seemed like they where looking for ways to improve and maybe the owners or chefs?(idk) seemed passionate about every detail, that's makes me feel like the same things going on in the kitchen and that's also what will keep me coming back.

I have never been to a resturant that really cares about with their customers want. NOW I can say yes I have been thanks to KHOM FAI. Amazing staff awesome service and the food is out of this world. I have been to many Thai rest. But none like this one. Try their green curry chicken. Red curry potato add beef yeah trust me its good. Pad Thai of course and seafood Rangoon with their homemade sauce is WOW. Not a fan of the summer roll but everything else I have had had been good.

Best pad thai I've had in years! We tried this place on our last date night. Hot and sour soup was yum, spring roll was supper yum. Hubby ordered chicken curry, very good and I ordered chicken pad thai. They were both great and we'll balanced. Chicken was supper moist, unlike the usual carry out places we usually order from! Looking forward to going back!

This place has everything you want in a Thai restaurant. It's got nice decor, great food, and very reasonable prices. It took me a while to try it out, but in glad I did. Everything we ordered tasted fantastic.
(5)B K.
Walking in the front door we were first pleased by the clean modern decor. The lighting and high lacquered tables were definitely a welcomed change of pace from most Thai restaurants in the area. The food was fresh and I could tell by the taste of spring rolls that the oil was properly maintained. The waitstaff was attentive and professional. The menu was condensed and easy to navigate. The iced Thai coffee and tea were refreshing and the fried ice cream is must. Definitely worth a second and third trip.
(5)Johnny H.
best thai place i've ever been to! they can make almost every dish vegan. which is rare for thai places. i'll be here all the time
(5)Eddie K.
Very well done! Excellent presentation as well as flavor. I have tried to find a good Thai place in the area that is closer than Mount Clemens and it's nice to finally find one. The Pad VongSeng is phenomenal as is the Gang Gai. The Pad Thai is by far one of the best I have had to date. The Tom Kha (Coconut Soup) lacks meat but is still a pretty tasty. If you are looking for a Thai place that isn't just a bunch of syrupy sauces and canned veggies, this is the place for you! All fresh and all good and great price to boot!!! I would have given 5 stars of there was chicken in the soup. Update... Changed my rating to 5 stars. I went back and didn't realize that the soup can come with any meat. Great place!
(5)Stephanie B.
Lunch perfect to taste (1 extra hot, 1 mild) with hubby..Meagan friendly server, owner Isaiah awesome cook! #c1kt
(5)Rachel B.
The pad Thai here was delicious! Plus the staff there were so nice. I had to cancel my dessert order. I felt so bad, but they were so polite about it. I am definitely coming back!
(4)Deena A.
I can't say enough amazing things about this place. Food is incredible, whether you dine in or carry out. Staff is genuinely friendly. My very first time going there I asked the waitress what she would recommend and she gave me an honest an answer, and I was not disappointed with her recommendation! I asked her a question about the chef and all, and she had him come out to see us, and I got to personally say thank you and compliment him on his talent. All in all, great, great place with amazing food and service.
(5)Domenic D.
I've been coming here since it opened in my area and it just gets better every year. I usually get mild to medium with either the crispy chicken or pad thai and I've NEVER had an issue, it always tastes delicious. If I can fit dessert in I always go for fried ice cream which I feel is a staple with them. Now they have local/craft beer and wine so I will definitely dine in even more.
(5)Julie L.
This restaurant is always good. Best Thai food hands down

Whoa... I get some decent Thai grub in Grand Rapids... I found some of the best out in Portland, OR, and Khom Fai is right up there. Summer roll with tofu, Tom Yum with shrimp, and Red Curry with beef. OMFG. Spice options are spot on whatever you choose, I happen to like spicy. I took it "to-go" so I can't speak for the dine-in experience, but the hostess/only-server there was awesome. They just got their liquor license so expect them to roll out a cocktail menu with some beers and wines. And don't forget to ask for utensils and napkins on your way out or they won't include it, but I can't knick off a star for that menial detail. Cheers.

My wife is Thai ( here 15 months) and I have lived in Thailand the papaya salad I got was just like you get in bangkok/central Thailand it rocked it tasted awesome and authentic the pad se ew I have tried several times it's not very authentic and like the Americanized version that seems to be the norm in the area especially among the kmong owned Thai restaurants its alright but I prefer mine like it's made in Thailand.

My boyfriend and I were craving Thai food and checked Yelp for the best restaurant to go to. Being from Chesterfield, Khom Fai is about a 20 minute drive but well worth it! It was a little tricky finding Khom Fai as it is tucked away next to Hamlin Pub. The hostess was very prompt as we entered the restaurant and asked how our evening was going and if we have ever been to Khom Fai: Thai Dining Experience before. We told her we have never been there before and she asked how we heard of the restaurant. We proudly told her 'Yelp'. She mentioned that if you check in on Yelp or Facebook you receive a percentage off your bill. Our waitress, Melissa, was very sweet and answered all the questions we had about menu items and how food was prepared. She was very knowledgeable and suggested we try the spring rolls as an appetizer. Very fresh! We loved that the food comes fresh from farmers markets. I ordered the the Sweet and Sour Chicken was my entree. Delish! I was plesantky surprised that the chicken was boiled instead of fried, like most places in the area. Melissa asked how I wanted the spice level. I picked mild since really spicy foods make me have an allergic reaction. Milld was the perfect spice level for me. I loved that the vegetables in the entree were also fresh and crisp. You can definitely tell the difference from fresh veggies and frozen veggies. I've never had cucumbers in my sweet and sour chicken before. Definitely a nice change! My boyfriend ordered Pad Thai with Chicken. Very large portion, especially for the price! He debated between mild and medium for his spice level and the waitress, Melissa, suggested 'Mild +' Definitely a nice touch! I think I ate more of my boyfriends meal than I did my own! He wanted to try the peanut sauce. Perfect! Our waitress suggested we 'like' their facebook page for future offers and specials. We will definitely be back soon!

This place is great! Some of the best Thai food I've ever had, simple, but very tasty.
(5)Z T.
Khom fai is not my usual go to spot for Thai. But decided to get a carryout tonight since it was on my way home. Called up and ordered a pad cashew with chicken and Medium spice. Fast forward 20 minutes. I sit down to enjoy my dinner and take my first bite. HOLY SALT! Apparently medium spice means dump a bunch of salt. The sauce was very watered down as well. I literally had to drain it because it was unbearably salty. Needless to say, I'll be sticking to my usual go to spot for Thai.
(2)Amber K.
We chose this based on yelp reviews and were very happy- thank you! Fast service, refilled water and pop quickly. Food came quick- good portion sizes. I started with Hot & Sour Soup mild. The spice and the taste was perfect; the bowl is definitely enough for 2. The temperature was HOT. My entree was the Classic Fried Rice with chicken mild plus. It was very good but I would ask for medium next time. My husband had the Pad Thai with beef, medium spice. He really liked it but said he would ask for a hotter spice. Overall good flavors, good service and would come back.
(4)Katie K.
Clean, warm & welcoming place for Thai dining. YUMMMMY "summer rolls" and GREAT pad Thai. They even did it gluten-free for me. Also, check out the BEAUTIFUL hand-made wooden tables!
(5)Lisa B.
The food tastes amazing and the service is outstanding. They also accommodate food allergies (HUGE bonus). Love this place!
(5)Christi T.
Best Thai food I've had. Staff is always friendly, it's is the type of place that wants you to leave with a smile they care about their customers
(5)Chelsea B.
First and foremost because I have to get this off my chest...Khom Fai has the best spring rolls I have ever eaten in my short life. My boyfriend and I go there specifically for them whenever we are nearby. They are so crispy from the first bite, fresh tasting and simply scrumptious. A must have!! My favorite dish would be the Khom Fai Crispy Chicken with Medium spice. Perfect mix of sweet and savory also comes served with plain rice. Oh! During my last visit, My boyfriend switched things up and ordered Thai Iced Tea. Man...that drink is delicious. I'm not 100% sure what makes it different from other iced teas but it's very addictive. Overall, Khom Fai is certainly a Thai gem in Macomb County and will have my business for a long time!
(5)Katie B.
I LOVE this place. I have been eating their food for over a year now, but always delivery or takeout. Friendly service and delivery. I love that they offer lunch and dinner portions (even at dinner). I have had most of the items on the menu, but my favorites are the Pad Thai, Glass noodles, Red Curry, Papaya Salad and Coconut Soup. Spring rolls and Summer rolls (Tofu) are fantastic. They are a bit pricey, but they deliver in quality. It's worth it.
(5)Rebecca B.
I disagree with the one $ sign. It seemed expensive to me... The meals including the fried rice were all $10.50+ and they didn't seem to include soup. I totally understand what the other reviewer was saying about it being cliquey. There was one other table in the restaurant and not only was the cook yelling at the table from the kitchen but the server sat down at their table and had a social hour. I had a spring roll and soup and it was good, but the price was about double what the best restaurant in Birmingham would be. Bottom line: clean, nice size menu, decent food, expensive, unprofessional staff.
(3)Jennifer S.
They've fixed their time issues and the food is as delicious as ever. My favorite Thai place around and I definitely recommend checking them out. They also do carryout or delivery if you're feeling lazy. I can't recommend one thing because there are so many things on the menu that I absolutely love!
(5)Akansha T.
Love this place! My girlfriends and I always come here for dinner. Great food, great atmosphere, and great staff!
(4)Reggie P.
When I eat here I always order take out on my way home. They always have my food ready when I get there. It's always hot. It's delicious (I get the pad thai) and the staff is lovely. The portions are great, even the lunch deals give you a LOT of food. The price seems pretty on par with other Thai places around this area. What more can you ask?
(5)Cher W.
Obsessed. After living in New York for 10 years I miss having every cuisine at my doorstep. Finally we can order delivery other than pizza! The restaurant is clean and inviting, but I'm a bigger fan that we can order delicious Thai from our couch (and in English). Delicious, FAST delivery in Macomb county, need I say more?!
(5)Brian L.
I feel fortunate to be surrounded by some really great Thai restaurants in Seattle. So when I head back to the Midwest to visit my family, I always try to encourage them to venture out and try new cuisines. This place was located close to my parent's home. They had heard it was good so we went. The server was AWESOME, very friendly and totally understand that my parents were new to Thai cuisine. She made excellent suggestions. Our food took a little longer to come out, but recognizing this, the chef came out and personally delivered some appetizers to hold us over. That was a thoughtful move. He also came out near the end of our meal to hear how everything tasted. Overall, the food was really good. By far, the best Thai I've had in metro Detroit, and to be honest, it is now my #1 favorite restaurant in the Shelby Twp/Macomb Twp/Rochester Hills area. I'd highly recommend!
(5)Scott K.
Love the Food. They make the Fried Rice Low Sodium for my Wife. Pad Thai is real good too.
(5)Rob B.
I really had to give this place 5 stars. The food was very fresh and very tasty. The service was excellent, one of the Chefs came out for each round of service and asked how we liked the food and the restaurant. That put it over to top to 5 stars. We had the papaya salad (medium), green curry (medium) and crispy chicken (mild). My wife had never had Thai before and loved the food (she is as picky as me). Because we cook so many different foods from so many cultures in our home, it's had to find a restaurant that I enjoy and for what it is (a diner to fine dining). We also had the summer rolls, absolutely delicious!! Very, very fresh ingredients. We are going back to work on more of their menu!!
(5)Sharon K.
I seriously love this place I fall in love everytime I get it. I recently tried their sweet brocoli noodles and they're AMAZING! I'm going to try their special khom Thai chicken next!! Totally recommend this place.
(5)Brady L.
Great thai food. Picked up takeout and no complaints. The staff was friendly and the manager Justin was very helpful with any questions we had! Definatly someplace that i will mix into my dining rotation!!!
(5)Devourfoodman M.
I was impressed the food was delicious i highly recommend the hot and sour soup also the fried ice cream was good
(4)Mario D.
Definitely a big fan of Thai. Previously my two favorite Metro Detroit favorites were Bangkok Cuisine of Rochester and Thang Lang of Madison Heights, but this placed just has an edge over those two places. Presentation and the decor is simple. Prices are great. The food was great. We were in there late and the kitchen started to play Sublime while we were stuck listening to Colbie Callait. The waiter came and apologized for the music coming from the kitchen, even though there wasn't a need to! We asked him to play Sublime in the dining are and he agreed. Definitely gave the meal and restaurant a personal feel!
(5)Rachel T.
Everyone raves about this place. Why? Because it's AWESOME! It's the coolest looking Thai restaurant I've visited - most just have the lunch-only or take-out vibe, but we come here for dinner often - and it's super clean. And service rocks. I was offered a soft drink while I waited for my carryout. One time it seemed the server forgot to take our order, when I flagged him over, he apologized profusely and comped us a Thai iced tea. Well done, sir. But the food! It's just so tasty. It seems fresher and more complex than your average Thai joint. So far, I've had pad Thai with veggie, tofu, beef and shrimp, all of which were great, as are the spring rolls and Thai iced tea. But my hands-down favorite dish is the green curry, medium heat, with tofu. I would take a bath in that sauce! I also really like that the owner keeps up with their Facebook page. Like it, and you'll see BOGO specials they're running and other little tidbits. The point of this is, there are a lot of Thai restaurants in the Macomb area. When we moved out here, we had to try them all, and eat a lot of mediocre Pad Thai, to find one we loved. Take our advice, save yourself the heart-ache and -burn, and just go straight to Khom Fai.
(5)J. M.
Finally I have found my Thai nirvana!! This place gets more amazing the more I go...I will openly admit once I find a dish I love I become addicted to it. I am love with their pad thai with the tofu. The Tofu is fried and tasty. I have tried all of their soups and have yet to be disappointed. The service is always kind and attentive. The location is a little hidden please note it faces 22 mile road.
(5)Marie S.
I'd love to give this place 5 stars, but alas, I shant. Started out with the Hot & Sour Soup everyone raves about - as most of you know I'm a bit of a hot & soup connoisseur. This one was totally different. Clear broth. Really clear. On the sweet side. Not sure what they make it hot with as there weren't any pepper flakes floating around in there. It was only a touch of hot. Not enough hot. And was that vermicelli floating in there? Shame on you, but I'll accept it. Food was ok - I had drunken noodles and the noodles were rubbery. I've had better. The broccoli didn't taste like it was washed - maybe I'm just used to places that use organic produce. Knocked from 5 stars to 4. Took a while to get any of my food - it was like the waiter had more important things to do or something - and it wasn't that busy in there... 3 other tables. I was there after lunch rush. Maybe he doesn't deliver the food... who knows. Too many people chipping in - who does what here? Team work is nice to have as long as the customer knows who's the main person to deal with it. I wanted to inquire about the business (I do this with places I like - I make inquiries) so I asked someone (I assume a chef by his attire) how long they had been there (2.5 yrs) and I asked it was owned by an American. I didn't think this was an offensive question, but apparently he did and got smarmy - he said no, then shot back with does it matter... NO IT DOESN'T DICKHOLE. So for his attitude they got knocked down a start. That made it down to 3. If you're reading this dick squirt - I was asking because it was the first Thai place (out of hundreds I've eaten at during my lifetime thus far) that played American music. And there aren't a lot of Thai restaurants with an American staff that can cook Thai food well. Speaking of attire - the "waiter" wasn't in any clothing that let you know he was your waiter. At least wear an apron. It seems like a very cliquey place. Lifetime Fitness staff eating there - way to ruin your health by drinking diet soda you lot!
(3)J L.
Average/expected taste for price. I dined in with a friend- we shared pad Thai and green curry, both with chicken. Service was decent- nothing special. I would have given it 3 stars, but within an hour my friend and both had the shits for the rest of the night from the food :(
(2)Tyler E.
Excellent place! Amazing service and staff. Nice personel touch when the cook comes out and speaks/talks to you! Loves the crispy chicken the summer rolls are to die for! It's my favorite spot!!
(5)Laura W.
So we ordered food to be delivered. I will say the young lady on the phone was really polite and bubbly. My hubby and I were quite disappointed that they didn't seem to have the basic Thai dishes we normally order from other Thai restaurants for example Thai toast or beef laub. I ended up ordering garlic chicken in brocolli and my hubby ordered the house fried rice. It was ok, the sauce with my dish was way to sweet, I did love their crab rangoons, but their complementary soup was awful it was thick like gel. Their egg rolls were yummy but small for $1.50 a egg roll not worth it.
(3)Minh S.
Not bad, not bad at all. I was looking for a new Thai place to try, and found this place on Yelp. Figured I'd give it a shot since it has pretty good ratings. The inside is very clean and nice, and very "Asian". Lots of Asian places try to be American (and therefore being a sellout), or have tacky stuff on the wall, but I think this place achieved a good combination of Asian and modern. The food is pretty good, we ordered the Pad See Ew and the Pad thai. The Pad See Ew is a dish that is quite different at different places. I think this one goes quite minimal on the sauce, and therefore is quite healthy, but it goes at the sacrifice of flavor. But the dish is lighter as a result, so it's not bad, just different. The pad thai is pretty good. Very flavorful, but I don't know how this is compared to other thai places, since PT would be my 3rd or 4th choice at Thai places. PSE is my #1. The Spring rolls here are pretty good too, but I wish that the sauce that comes with it wouldnt' be so sweet. It mean it was like candy. Other than that, the service was quite good, and the water..oh boy the water. Best I've had. The ice comes broken up into little round nuggets, something I haven't seen for a long time. And for that, I give it 4.2 stars.
(4)Nancy M.
This is a must try place. I called for take out and received the best Thai food I have had in some time. Spring rolls, fried rice, pad Thai and crispy chicken. All delicious and hot!!!
(4)Jason J.
Thai food options are sort of limited in Shelby Twp, but glad we chose this one to introduce my family to Thai food. The service was a bit slow at first, but my mom and brother absolutely loved their dishes. Prices were awesome too. I think less than $10. Nice small and clean thai joint with good food.
(4)Kenneth W.
The food is very good, especially the Pad Thai. I can't put my finger on it but it is a little different from most other Pad Thai recipes...a nice change. My only complaint is that I'm used to huge overflowing portions at my other restaurants, especially Asian food. The food is tasty, but don't necessarily plan on enjoying it for lunch tomorrow because of the portions.
(4)Mike G.
Friendly staff, good environment. great Pad Thai. It was a very generous portion.
(4)Cortney C.
Love, love this restaurant. Clean, comfy, modern atmosphere and delicious food. Favorites were the Pad Cashew and the ice cream, especially the coconut and the fried ice cream. Perfect that they deliver, since I work only a few miles away! Love the clean, modern vibe.
(5)Mark L.
After reading all of the OTHER reviews of this place, I had to give them a try. Yes, the restaurant is very clean and nice looking (especially when compared to other "Thai" restaurants). Yes, the waitress who was working the day I went was very friendly and helpful. Yes, the food all seemed to be freshly prepared. Having said all that... it wasn't the greatest Thai food that I've ever had. You would think that with all these 5-star reviews of the place on here that it would have to be like dining in heaven, but no... The springs rolls were good, and the dipping sauce was too. I had to try the Lemon grass soup after reading other people rant and rave about it. Well... it tasted good, but it had some VERY hard to chew pieces of something in it that just kept me from really enjoying it. The entree that I had ordered seemed good, but my dad had ordered the crispy chicken and he thought that the sauce was WAY too sweet. My dad had also ordered the Hot & Sour soup (which I took a taste of). Well, I've tried the Hot/Sour soup at MANY Chinese/Thai places, and it does seem to be a bit different at each place, but usually it has LOTS of stuff in it. This version had very little in it, other than some very thin spaghetti-like pasta. It still tasted alright, but nothing close to the Hot/Sour soups of many other restaurants. The overall impression I got from this place is that it is not operated by "Asian" people at all, but completely run by Americans. Now, that's not really a bad thing (perhaps you might even feel like that's a good thing), but I kind of felt like the food kind of showed that. The food IS good, but it still kind of feels like it's not quite "authentic" Thai. That's just the way "I" felt about it. A restaurant that gets THIS many 5-star reviews SHOULD be a place that is worth driving out of your way for (check out the "Filtered" reviews... it's crazy). Well, with SO MANY other Thai restaurant choices around, I wouldn't drive out of my way for this place. Still... if you do live nearby, it's good food at a fair price. But, for me... I've tried far too many different Thai places to really want to go back to this one any time soon.
(3)Matt R.
Pad Thai. Yellow curry. Spring roll. All fantastic. The fried ice cream is worth it if you have room.
(5)Molida K.
I've had better Pad Thai. And the Crispy Chicken was soggy. Maybe I just ordered on the wrong day.
(1)Tim S.
Two and a half stars. Not good. Not terrible. Not very traditional, and where it varies, the choices are strange. The crab Rangoon dough was pasty and they were overcooked. The tom yum was covered in flavorless papery button mushrooms and contained mushy tomato pieces - not the more typical flavorful straw mushroom and halved grape tomatoes. The broth was slightly off. The masuman was buried in non-traditional and very misplaced green and red peppers - yuk. My companion's spring roll was delicious and his pad Thai was decent, but the hot and sour soup was bizarre and off-putting (and I've eaten Thai pretty much everywhere in my travels at this point). We both repeated all night. Not recommended.

This is the best Thai restaurant in Macomb and is right up there with Sy Thai in Birmingham and Sala Thai in Eastern Market. I lived in Seattle for two years so I have a pretty high standard for Thai food. Khom Fai is one of the few Thai restaurants outside of Seattle that have met that bar. The restaurant itself is a small modestly decorated space. Lack of flair here is made up for somewhat by the really great service. Though the dinning room isn't bad, I find myself doing carryout from here as opposed to dining in. All of the dishes are extremely fresh and show an attention to detail in good ingredient selection and preparation. For those who like spice the hottest and 2nd hottest options are authentically hot, so for those who don't like their Thai as spicy, you probably want to go Mild here. Dishes I've tried and really enjoyed: -Pad Thai (One of the best I've had, noodles have a great almost homemade consistency to them, fresh ground nuts and bean sprouts are a great touch). -Red Curry (Very flavorful, great consistency without being too thick, great amount of meat). -Pad Pak (Meat and Vegetables with Oyster Sauce, rich dark sauce, very fresh veg) Even with the modest dinning space, the food more than makes up for any shortcoming there. This really is a great Thai restaurant, you won't be disappointed! Note to the restaurant: I would find a way give you a sixth star if you somehow manage to add Crispy Garlic and Basil Chicken to your menu (pictured in link): yelp.com/biz_photos/Fnn8…
(5)levramosis H.
The food here is NOT authentic Thai. But there are some very tasty dishes. The sweet broccoli noodles were delicious and I would return here just for these. I love that they use Treat Dreams for their ice cream and the shop around the corner for their chocolate cake. The chicken satay is generous and moist. Nice ambiance and solid service.
(3)Daroki K.
Spring rolls were just ok. Chicken skewers were juicy Sweet & sour sauce OK but peanut sauce was off. Crab Rangoon were burnt. Waitress forgot our soup, until our meal came and we reminded her, but then it turned out it had that funky mop bucket flavor common with strip mall Chinese joints, so I was glad to be distracted by the meal. Hot and sour soup was REALLY sweet too. Pad See Ew was serviceable with blah presentation, Pad Thai was Better. Good selection of classic rock played while we dined, if you're into that. Ambiance of the place was nice even if the soundtrack was out of sync. This place was a legitimate 2 star, but another star off for all the other hype for this place. I don't know bout the other drunken noodles that've been eatn here. Definitely not all that... Oh yeah and the waitresses annoying laugh could be heard throughout the restaurant during her extended stays in the kitchen.

FINALLY! FINALLY! FINALLY! FINALLY a Thai restaurant that is CLEAN, BRIGHT, has GREAT SERVICE and DELIVERS??? I think I may be dead. I had to pinch myself multiple times throughout my Thai Dining experience to make sure I could feel it and this wasn't a fake restaurant floating on some cloud somewhere.... Complaints? Very few. If I had to complain about a single thing it would be that all the dishes that I tried were a little on the sweet side all around and when you request MEDIUM spice, it's more like MILD...not even MILD PLUS....but so what....you can add more individually if you like....simply request the spices....and VOILA! It's like magic! I had to pinch myself again! Location is a little hidden. It's located on the OTHER side of HAMLIN PUB completely facing 22 Mile Road. I drove through the little strip mall twice looking for it - it's not visible from the strip mall...you have to literally drive over to the other side of Hamlin. I ordered the Crispy Chicken, Curry Fried Rice with Pineapple and also the Hot and Sour Soup. It was all awesome. The Hot and Sour soup was probably the best I have ever had....even though it WAS a little on the sweet side...it didn't really matter - it hit the spot and left me wondering if I shouldn't have snagged some for later that evening..... Washed that meal down with NOT ONE, BUT TWO Thai Iced Teas....I couldn't help myself...I figured, if I'm dead, heaven must not have calories.... Topped it all off with Fried Ice Cream. Extra cherries are a must. I would have liked fresh sliced cherries though instead of candied.... I think it would have balanced a little better....but, what the hell. you only live once...and if I was indeed in heaven, NO CALORIE RULE! I'm super stoked about their monthly tasting parties....$20 a head and they run from Noon until 3pm on Sundays...once a month - so check their website or become a fan on their Facebook page for details.... Good for groups - but keep in mind it's not a huge restaurant. Good for kids? Eh....I would say NOT SO MUCH. If you have older kids that are well-behaved...then, YES. ABSOLUTELY. But if you have squirmy kids who blow bubbles in their drinks and fling food...TAKE A PASS AND GET CARRY OUT!! This is a small place really geared more towards adults and smaller groups. Ladies - looking for a different place to do a shower or ladies get together???? Sundays they don't open until 5pm and you can privately rent the dining room for events....... Definitely look into it if you want a fab place....

As the other reviewers have commented, this place is really clean and the staff at the restaurant are very friendly. Our waitress was outstanding. I ordered the lemon grass soup as an appetizer and that had to be the best lemon grass soup I have had. It was very flavorful and had quite a kick to it with the medium-hot spice I requested. The only bad thing with this soup is that I got it with tofu. It appears they cut up some tofu and threw it into the bowl right before serving. Therefore, the tofu did not have any flavor to it. I ended up taking most of it out and setting it to the side. If they simmered the tofu in the soup it would taste much better. I got the Pad Pak entree with medium-hot spice. The entrees they serve are huge - you get plenty of food for the price. While there was a good mix of vegetables, the spicing was not medium-hot (more like mild) and the sauce they used in the dish appeared to be teriyaki. Not real authentic for a Thai restaurant. Not the worst Thai place, but definitely not the best.

They deliver!!! I am elated that more restaurants in my area have finally heeded the call of the masses and started delivery service. Khom Fai had my meals to my door in 45 minutes during peak dinner hours on a Friday evening and they were still warm. Red curry is wonderful. The tofu is tender on the inside with just a touch of crisp on the outside; a tell tale sign that it was gingerly dipped in the deep fryer prior to saucing. The sauce was velvety and packed quite a punch at a medium plus spice level. Additionally, the entree and rice were packed separately so the sauce wasn't all absorbed by the time it reached the door. I wish this dish had a tad more vegetable variety but that is personal preference. Pad thai was utterly disappointing. The noodles were so dry I had to spoon some of the red curry sauce over them just so I wouldn't choke. There was no spice whatsoever despite the fact that I ordered it medium plus. This baffled me as I ordered the curry the same way and it was perfect? Also, they charge 1.50 extra on top of the entree price if you want shrimp. This is so not a big deal as seafood is pricy, however, giving a customer FOUR shrimp is simply insulting. I was embarrassed for them and would have sent this dish back if I was dining in. I will definitely give this place another shot as it may have been just growing pains on a busy weekend night. Their curry is outstanding enough to draw me back in. Plus, let's be honest, they are the only thai around that delivers so I'm basically a captive customer.

Stopped by Khom Fai on a sunday night, lots of folks were having dinner so I took that as a good sign. I'm in town on business and I don't like eating out alone, so I ordered to go. I asked for tom kha gai, the guy taking my order said, "I don't know what that is." Oh no, this is going to be bad I thought but they had tom kha and pad thai. I always order pad thai the first time in a new thai restaurant because if they can't make it well then they don't deserve my business. The pad thai was good, I'd definitely order is again. The tom kha (coconut soup to the waiter) was horrid, aweful, putrid. One good dish, one bad dish so they get 3 stars.

Let me start by saying that my fiance is extremely picky when it comes to Thai, and she said there is no other place she's goin to go to now. This is the only place she wants to go from now on. I found out about this little slice of Thai heaven on here, and let me say you guys were dead on! The decor is modern and very clean and comfortable. The wait staff was awesome, very friendly and knowledgeable. I started with lemon grass soup and it was delicious. It has a wonderful sweet and slightly sour flavor and the spice was perfect. The fresh cilantro set the whole thing off. I had the Khom Fai crispy chicken, and it was perfect, amazing flavor and I had it hot which was just enough spice to make ya sweat alittle but not destroy the flavor. All in all I would give it 10 stars if I could, I can't wait to go back! Side note: Justin the GM/Chef was awesome, he stopped by our table and chatted a bit with us. You can tell he takes alot of pride with what he does and it shows in the quality of the food!

I have now had the pleasure of dining at Khom Fai several times. What I find to be most interesting about this place is the Thai-American paradox it seems to have. Most Thai restaurants have a very Thai atmosphere (Thai music, Thai pictures/ tapestries/ etc.) but the food is Americanized. Khom Fai is the opposite. Other Thai establishments laden their curries and noodles with sugar, which Khom Fai holds back on. Don't get me wrong, the sweet-salty-umami flavor profile is still there, but the dishes all seem a bit more savory. The atmosphere is very clean and serene, with bamboo and slate tile walls. The music is mostly (surprisingly good) rock and roll, and the waitstaff knowledgeable about the food (the menu is written in English first, and Thai second.) The drunken noodles and pad-Thai, both staples of any Thai joint, were both balanced and complex, without that cloying sweetness typical of these dishes. The tom yum, another staple, is everything it should be; spicy, sour, salty, sweet. The hot and sour soup is also delicious, but certainly a bit sweeter than other dishes (not to say unbalanced.) My two favorite curries are the potato curry and the red curry, both rich and layered with flavor, with fresh veggies and choice of protein with the right amount of fish sauce funk! Finally, the fried ice cream is unique and tasty, if you can forgive yourself for eating fried ice cream. I do believe that Khom Fai is the finest Thai join in the Tri-county. I just wished I lived closure so I could go more often.

MMMMM their sweet and sour soup is to die for! I love soup and this stuff is off the hook! Also, i love their red curry and spring rolls. Everything is home made and fresh. The owners are super friendly and always come out and talk to me. If you like thai food you need to go here!
(5)Kate R.
Tasty thai food!! The spring rolls and rangoons are very good - obviously fresh and not greasy at all!!! I'm not huge fan of peanut sauce, but it was good for what it was. I had the sweet broccoli noodles with beef - very good! I'd definitely go back to try other menu items. And the fried ice cream was exceptional!

Visited on Saturday March 16... the Pad Thai w/Beef and the Chicken Fried Rice were excellent. Wait Staff was friendly and attentive. Will definitely come back when I'm in the Lakeside area!

After eating at Khom Fai for my second time, I can honestly say it is some of the best Thai food I have ever eaten (about 10 different Thai Restaurants). What I enjoy about the food is each ingredient that comes on the plate out of the kitchen is fresh. I have tasted: Seafood Rangoon and Spring Roll as an appetizer Khom Fai Crispy Chicken Pad See Ew Pad Woonsen Pad Thai w/ Chicken Red Curry Chicken Fried Ice Cream There wasn't a bad dish in the bunch with the Red Curry Chicken and Pad Thai as my favorites. There's a very warm, welcoming feeling not only from the decor but from the extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. If you find yourself in the neighborhood, stop at this little gem and sample the menu. You'll be wanting to come back regularly.

The best Thai food in the Detroit area is located in a strip mall in the distant suburb of Shelby Twp. I know it seems impossible - I never thought Shelby Twp. had the best of ANYTHING, let alone Thai food! (sorry Shelby Twp!) But lo and behold, here we are. Khom Fai has a simple concept: fresh, delicious, authentic Thai food. Their menu is written in plain English, which is a bit different from most other Thai restaurants. Pad Thai is Pad Thai, but you will see entrees such as Pad Basil and Pad Ginger. The Thai names are still there next to the English ones, but I can tell the menu is designed to be accessible to newcomers and veterans alike. The interior of the restaurant has a modern rustic decor, punctuated by hanging paper lanterns that are a clever reference to the fire lanterns from which Khom Fai gets its name. Overall it feels really clean and comfortable. I went here with my girlfriend, and we ordered the Fried Tofu, Summer Rolls, Pad Basil with Tofu, and Pad Thai with Tofu. I ordered a Diet Coke, and my server asked if I would like Coke Zero instead. I thought he was kidding so I asked him if they really had Zero in their soda fountain, and he assured me they did. How cool is that? They have Diet Coke too, but I prefer Zero. When we got our appetizers, the summer rolls were absolutely amazing. They tasted extremely fresh, like they were just picked right off of the summer roll tree. I circled the building later, but I couldn't find any evidence of any such tree. The Pad Thai was absolutely the BEST PAD THAI EVER!!!11 Seriously. I'm used to feeling real heavy after I eat a full plate of Pad Thai, but this time was different. I felt satisfied, but not super heavy. I also noticed that there wasn't a pool of greasy sauce left over on the plate when I was finished. All of the sauce had been absorbed into the noodles, leaving nothing behind. It wasn't all watered down and gross like some of the lesser Thai places I've been to. I want to take a moment to mention the spice level of everything here... It is significantly lower than what I am used to. So I would recommend ordering a spice level higher than you normally do. The first time I came here, I ordered my Pad Thai mild. On subsequent visits, I ordered it medium and it was perfect. I found the spice level to be very consistent from visit to visit. Overall I was very pleased with my experience at Khom Fai. I live pretty far away from this place, but I am willing to make the 20+ mile drive just to get Thai food this delicious. I can only hope that they open another location closer to my house!
(5)Diane B.
My fave Thai place ever! I eat lunch here once a week (sometimes twice!) because I'm addicted to their soup, spring rolls, and Pad Broccoli w/ chicken. Their Crispy Chicken is really yummy too. Service is great and prices are good for the amount and quality that you get. I would recommend to anyone!
(5)Eric W.
Good Food! Great Service! I was exceptionally impressed with the level of service that I received when I ate here. My drink was never empty, the hostess checked how my meal was multiple times, and the food was prepared quickly. The only reason I took one star away is because I ordered medium spice on my Kow Pad and, to me, it was barely mild if that, but I guess better to under spice than over spice it. I would definitely go back if I'm in the area!
(4)Danielle Y.
I'm officially ruined for all other Thai restaurants. My boyfriend took me here for the first time. I always thought I loved Thai food but now I know I didn't even know what real Thai food was supposed to taste like. I ordered the curry fried rice with chicken while my vegetarian boyfriend ordered the pad Thai with tofu. Somehow he managed to finish his huge portion, but considering how much he usually eats I wasn't too surprise. For the rest of us though theres always some leftovers for lunch the next day. The prices are great, especially considering how much you get. We also took advantage of their check in deal to get 10% off our bill. Another great thing is they used crushed ice, which is always a bonus to me. The server was friendly and attentive, even the owner himself stopped by our table to check on us. Khom Fai definitely earned their five stars from me. Now if only they could open a location up on my side of town!
(5)Henry B.
I was here for a HungryDudes food shoot with @joefoodie, @davebenjamin, and a bunch of other people. This place totally rocks. Especially if you like spicy food. We tried about 8 different dishes. My favorites were... -Khom Fai Crispy Chicken -Pad See Ew -Pad Woonsen I was too full for dessert but I hear the fried ice cream was great. When you order something spicy, make sure you have plenty of water on hand. As far as thai food is concerned, I think this is a hidden gem in Shelby Township. It's really good here. If you live near the area, you must try this place.
(4)Jeff C.
Simply fantastic! Where do you start with such a gem? The facility itself is simplistic which some may or may not like. Lacking the plush booth seating of some of the other area thai restaurants, it may not be the most comfortable choice but definitely the tastiest. I've eaten there twice now both times enjoyed the absolute freshest food one could hope for. The pad thai (something I hold dear to my heart) was delicate enough to enjoy the taste yet it retained the boldness of the dish. If you are undecided you shouldn't be, there is no better choice I've found for thai in the area and I'm driving over a half hour to get there.
(5)Jesse C.
Not as good as all the hype. I was not impressed. This is a good place for people who love faux-asian restaurants. To my suprise after leaving the left-overs the bed of a truck for 4 hours and reheating it, it tasted better.
(1)Jamie B.
red curry with chicken was very good. I asked if their hot was hot and they laughed....Made me cry it was so hot, almost inedible and I LOVE IT HOT. I guess I should have gotten the hint. Crab Rangoons were good and service was fine....check it out! I have been another 3 or 4 times since my first review and I just feel that many of the other dishes were misses for me. I still think it is pretty good but not sure if I would choose it over some of the other local Thai spots.

I was in town visiting a friend and she told me I just HAD to go to Khom Fai with her because she knows that the west side of the state is seriously lacking on good ethnic foods. Finding a parking spot was a challenge, so I figured we were in for a long wait. Not so much, it must be people in the bar because we got a table right away and they were busy, but not jam packed parking lot busy. I tried the red curry and was impressed. I tend to judge a Thai place by the red curry nowdays, especially since I"ve sworn off all Pad Thai on the grounds of it being Americanized. I was especially thankful that i was asked if I wanted the lunch or dinner portion because I was heading out of town after dinner and my leftovers would not have been ok by the time I made it home. Well worth the money, well worth the drive.
(5)David E.
We go to Khom Fai a couple times a month and it remains our favorite restaurant since moving to the area last year. The food has always been very good every time we go. To have been there so many times and yet to have a bad experience with the food or service is a true testimonial. Our favorite is the Chicken Pad Thai and is by far the best we have had. I beg to differ with the Reviewer who said the Spring Rolls were just OK. I am not a vegetable person but still love the Spring rolls, they are the best! We highly recommend Khom Fai to all! And yes, the fried ice cream is incredible.
(5)Bess R.
still delicious. I get carryout whenever I'm in the area. LOVE the tom yum (lemongrass) soup.
(5)Taki M.
I've tried every Thai joint in southeastern MI and this one tops them all. The taste and quality difference is night and day when compared with all the same old Thai places out there. Even the popular pad Thai is very unique here compared to other places and very very flavorful. I'm very excited to be around such great food!!!!
(5)Jeffrey S.
Food was excellent, service with a smile was superb and refills were quite timely. I used Siri to find a nearby Thai place and it sorted them by highest rating based on Yelp reviews. Khom Fai did not disappoint. Plus I saved $1.35 off the bill for "checking in" on Yelp!
(5)Ross F.
Wow! What an experience we just had at Khom Fai! Isaiah and Justin (co-owners and chefs) and waitress Megan discovered we were vegetarian, so they sat with us and created an outstanding meal customized just for us! My Lemon Grass Soup was SO fresh and flavorful! My wife's unique soup included coconut, lemon, lime and mushroom, the best soup she's ever had. My Pad Thai and my wife's raw vegetarian lettuce wraps were delightful! And the vegan dessert was a unique creation sweetened with palm sugar. Such a friendly and personable staff who went out of their way to please our vegetarian/vegan palates! Can't wait to return!
(5)Christina R.
I wasn't all that impressed. A bit pricey for lunch and skimpy portion. Too much bamboo, def not enough chicken.
(2)Kaylajoy Y.
This place has great reviews for a reason! Absolutely amazing food! Had the spring roll and crab ragoon to start. Was fresh crispy and spot on. Best spring rolls I have had in a very long time. Crab ragoon was also very good crunchy and full of flavor, I love cream cheese and this has plenty inside. I had the crispy chicken with white right hot, and my guest had pad tie. Both very full of flavor and enough for two Meals. To my surprise this place has a beer and wine list, but no bar to be seen. Very small dining room only about 10 or so tables. We will be back!
(5)Marco P.
We have eaten here several times and unfortunately tonight was the worst. We had takeout and were expecting the usual amazing flavors and quality. Our take-out consisted of Tom Yum soup, spring rolls and curry fried rice. The soup was very good as usual. Spring rolls were decent. But seemed to be less quality this time. And the HUGE disappointment was the Curry Fried Rice with Beef. Incredibly bland and barely any beef. Adding salt, pepper and soy sauce to give it flavor was needed and makes us wonder if the quality of this place has gone down or was it a fluke? Hopefully we just caught it on a bad night.
(2)Jeff K.
There is Thai food... Then there is Khom Fai. The best Thai food / food period. Try anything, you will be happy. Its just that simple.
(5)Bob N Jen H.
Our favorite thai place. The potato curry is to die for. Hubby and I meet for lunch every now and then. Great waitstaff and wonderful customer service.
(5)Diane M.
Friday 08-21-15 7:00PM Not authentic Thai, but still very good. Small, quaint, clean establishment. Nice atmosphere. The wait staff were nice young ladies but inexperienced as waitresses. We shared Lemon Grass Soup and it was very good. The Sweet Broccoli Noodles with Beef had a good flavor, although a bit salty and shy on the beef. The Yellow Curry with Chicken had an excellent flavor, but the sauce had more of a consistency of soup, and was very shy on the chicken. I would have been willing to pay more money to have more chicken and beef. I ordered Thai Iced Coffee because they were out of Thai Iced Tea.

I love this place!!! The first time my wife and I came here was about 2 months ago and now we come every other week. The staff is super friendly and has a very warm atmosphere. The food is amazing and it's my goal to try everything. I would most definitely recommend this place to anyone I know for thai. This guy has a great thing going for himself and I hope this place is around forever.
(5)Joseph M.
This is one of the only places in the area where they can seem to make food with enough heat to satisfy my fire-breathing-idiot palette. The dining area is quaint and cozy. The food is not totally authentic, but it is very tasty and they do use quality ingredients.

A couple weeks ago we decided to give Khom Fai a second chance. The food was much better this time (still a bit pricey for Thai) - I would gladly recommend both the Curry Fried rice and the Glass Noodles. However, the negative part of our experience definitely caused them to lose 2 stars... When I ordered carry out they said it would be 20-25 minutes, fine, we actually ended up arriving a few minutes late to pick it up. However, when we told the hostess our name she firstly fumbled around with various tickets having no idea who we were or that we had ordered.. okay - she eventually found our ticket and said that the chefs are cooking our food right now... WHAT?? Our order was supposed to be ready 5-10 minutes ago. WE ENDED UP HAVING TO WAIT FOR AND ADDITIONAL 26 MINUTES!!! Not only that but the hostess was rude! I asked her to clarify if the chefs were actually only cooking the food at that moment and she said "Why, do you have to be somewhere?" WTF?! I politely told her that no we don't have to be anywhere, but our food was supposed to be ready 5-10 minutes prior to our arrival to pick it up. Boo! Hire some more polite staff please and then I'll consider returning!
(3)Tara L.
Close to three years since my last review, and Khom Fai still delivers on delicious and fresh Thai food! When people ask me for a Thai recommendation, this is the only place that I mention. I don't care if you think driving to Shelby Township is far; once you arrive, you'll see why! And if that's not enough, they now have beer and wine available! Follow them on FB and IG for pop-ups, special events. Isaiah and his team are awesome!

This is one of those times where I wished I had an in between option for 3.5 stars. I went here last Saturday night for Thai food because the reviews were promising. Here is the break down. Food: 4 stars - our party ordered chicken satay, pad thai with tofu, curry fried rice and crispy chicken. The chicken satay was great. Our waitress said the food is made to order which shows in the chicken satay. All 4 skewers had a hefty piece of chicken that was juicy and flavorful. The pad thai had good flavors and not drenched in oily sauce like my experience at other Thai restaurants. The tofu are fried and were but dry so I ended up picking them off to the side. The curry fried rice was really good! The flavors are nice and spicy. I didn't taste the curry, but it was a good dish overall. The crispy chicken looked like and tasted like general tsos chicken, but the chefs spin on it was unique and good. Now, here comes the kicker. The service was 3 stars! The restaurant was not that busy on a Saturday night (maybe 4 parties total). A party of 6 who came after our party not only got their food first, they dined and left before our party of 3 were done. Our dining experience was almost 2 hours long! Don't get me wrong, I'm all for long dinners with good company but we wanted to catch furious 7 that night and had to keep pushing back to a later show time. I saw a lot of carry out orders since we had plenty of time to watch people come and go while waiting for our food. Maybe we'll consider carry out next time because the food was great! I just wish that service wasn't so slow :-/

I do not know what the punishment should be for me PASSING this place the last two years & not stopping in, especially the love it gets from faithful yelpers. Ode well better late than never! I called ahead to scope out how crowded it was on Saturday 4-18-15 This super positive firecracker named Meghan answered the phone, gave me the details & even supplied me with the lowdown on rice noodles . Arrived at around 4:30 A gentleman, whom looked like a chef, asked if we wanted to dine in or order a carryout? Dine in please, he sat us, and I could not help but pepper him with questions as Thai rookies. He was polite, super knowledgeable about every single dish & how it was prepared, I finally asked, How Do You Know The Menu so well? In all humility he mentioned that he was indeed the owner, Isaiah ! 4th generation and he opened this gem 5 years ago, and its been the hour magazine best Thai 3 years running. We asked about appetizers, lunch menu-dinner menu & ice cream flights He easily spent 20-30 minutes patiently guiding us and picking our brain to likes-dislikes And he basically ordered for us, and we were cool with that! I must admit, I'm quite fond of several local restaurant owners, but Isaiah went above & beyond ! We started with house-made spring rolls with a dipping sauce ( its not duck sauce or plum sauce, I just forgot the name ) A+ crispy shell, but not dry, stuffed full with fresh veggies Then we split-shared a bowl of lemon grass soup A++ Oh my goodness, do not let the name scare you away It was a hearty beefy tasting stock, with several fresh shitake mushrooms scattered throughout! I was curious enough to try a Thai tea A+ You got to like sweet, it reminded me of a coke float boston cooler Isaiah chose drunken noodles for my bride with shrimp She LOVED the broad -wide-flat rice noodles A+ I had my first ever pad thai beef , which came with the rice noodles, generous amounts of beef, extra bamboo shoots & a serving of fresh ground peanuts, which I almost passed on, BUT the chef was insistence that if I did indeed like peanuts it would make the dish. Glad I listened , he was spot on. A+ Plus I added several spoons of jalapenos & the other two seasonings from the carousel. So we both boxed 1/2 or our lunch entrees ( yes he will let you choose from the lunch or dinner menu all day) And wanted to try a ice cream flight. Once again , old Asian family recipe, that he has treat dreams of Ferndale make for him. Our flight had a curry- ginger & mocha sampling All three were unique and quite wonderful, but I'd have to learn to like the curry. If I were to order one on its own it would be the mocha, once summer gets here he offers 2-3 more flavors. Throughout our evening Isaiah , Meghan & Amanda all were waiting on us, as they love first timers, knowing most-many will return once they sample the high quality everything. I can say I now KNOW why he has this in his name & advertising Thai Dining Experience As it was so much more than a meal.. I cannot wait to go back! And if we are in a pinch , he delivers!!!
(5)Kent M.
They have a pretty good menu of all things Thai. I ordered the Sweet Broccoli Noodles on the medium side of things. The dish was delish! A serving of fried ice cream hit the spot and sent me on my way. A great meal indeed.
(5)Anthony D.
(Got carry out). I got the Red curry chicken. Had very good taste to it, but was a little to hot for me. Prices are a bit high, place looks nice and clean inside. staff was nice too. I'd probably come back.

Thai food craving to the max ! Decided on this place since everyone said its the best Thai food in Michigan. I had a hard time trying to find this place. My gps took me to the wrong side and even when I got into the correct plaza I still couldn't find it. Since I drop 30 mins for this place I was determined to find it. They are located past bread company off in a corner of the plaza. The place had about 10 tables with lots of wall art. Overall, the decor inside was nice. I had the lemon grass soup with tofu and pad Thai with tofu. They have different levels of spiciness. I ended up getting medium. Lemon grass soup: had mushrooms, bell peppers, tofu, and some red chili peppers and lots of spicy oil. I can't make a proper judgement of this soup cause I couldn't really taste it cause of the large amounts of spicy oil. Pad Thai with tofu. I was impressed when it came out. The bean sprouts looked fresh and they gave a small bowel more like medium bowl to me of peanuts. Def a plus. The noodles were cooked perfectly and there were lots of flavor a going on at once. Sometimes a little overpowering but overall pretty good. Overall, if I was in the area and looking for some good thai food this would be the place.
(4)Sarah H.
Good Thai food. Fast and friendly service. I usually get chicken pad Thai or potato curry. Both dishes are delicious. The Tom yum soup is pretty good too.
(4)Matthew K.
Best Thai food in Michigan. It's that simple. I've been here a half-dozen times, and wish it was closer so I could come every week. I've had mainly their curries because I love them so much, but their appetizer soup, spring rolls and other entrees like pad thai are all really good. When I get a chance to take coworkers there, I promise them I'll pay for their food if they don't like it. Never had to pay for them. Clean restaurant, fast service, very work-heavy owner, fair prices. Can't say anything bad.
(5)Guy D.
5 star Thai here, folks. You foodies cannot get Thai this good on the west side. The owners take their profession seriously. If something might have gone wrong with your order you can be sure that the issue will be fixed pronto. Did I mention that you foodies on the west side have no Thai place that stacks up to Khom Fai?
(5)MacKenzie S.
This restaurant has excellent service and staff. Every person is friendly that is in there. The amount of food you receive for the price it is, is very much worth it. I order from here all the time wen it comes to Thai food. And, the every single food dish that is prepared is fresh. My favorites to order from here would be: Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, Chicken Summer Roll, Red Curry, seafood Rangoon, and Fried Rice! You should definitely consider this restaurant. There is a kids menu available and there fried ice cream is amazing.
(5)Stiven S.
Saw the reviews on here and figured I'd give Khom Fai a shot. In short, I was very happy and will definitely come back. I ordered take-out and got the pad thai dish with chicken, and the sesame chicken. The pad thai was very flavorful, they put a lot more peanuts on there than I expected, but I scraped them off. Not a big deal and would definitely order it again. The sesame chicken was pretty good; the sauce was great, but the chicken was a little dry because they put the sauce in a side container. I'm sure it would have been better had I dined in. All that said, the takeout process was easy, staff were really nice, and the restaurant was very clean with nice decor. Looking forward to eating here again.
(4)Andy O.
Not bad at all, somewhat smaller menu, nice atmosphere, good food, not as good as Sala down the street though
(3)Pamela K.
Absolutely wonderful dining experience. The food is fresh and prepared perfectly. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I ventured outside of my usual dining perimeter because of their great reviews and family recommendations. Well worth the drive and I plan on visiting this establishment again in the near future!
(5)Janice S.
The best Thai food in Macomb county, hands down! The food couldn't be better. The service is always perfect! So happy that we stumbled on this tiny little Thai restaurant.
(5)Falon K.
I have searched high and low for a decent Thai restaurant in the area. I tried a bunch of different places just trying to get my Thai fix and nothing tickled my fancy UNTIL Khom Fai!!! Honestly, I urge you to try this place out if you are looking for a really good restaurant. I ordered the Crispy Chicken extra spicy and my boyfriend got the Pad Thai extra spicy. We LOVE spicy food and sometimes the extra spicy anywhere else would be unbearable but when it comes to Khom Fai, it has the perfect amount of kick. Originally, we planned on sharing both dishes but we were so obsessed with our own dishes that we didn't want to share! I actually just called my boyfriend and told him that I wanted Khom Fai today because I LOVED it the first time. I can't wait to eat there again and again and again. Easily the best Thai food I have ever had.
(5)Carol S.
We wanted to take Mom or for some good Thai food and chose this place based on the Yelp reviews, since our favorite is too far away. Hard to find tucked into a strip mall corner. Dirty dishes and flatware. Ordinary food. Can't recommend and won't return.
(1)Ann D.
LOVED IT!!!! Loved the lettuce wrap, crispy chicken, and thai tea!!!
(5)Roy H.
Fantastic fresh food....hard to find such a great meal at this price. Staff is friendly, as if you're eating in a small town restaurant. I've tried many of their curry dishes and have never been disappointed. The lemon grass soup is one of my personal favorites!!!
(5)Chad M.
This is as good as it gets. Thai food the way it it supposed to be. Try: Lemongrass Soup, Summer Rolls, or Pad Thai! Definitely check this place out.
(5)T W.
Gotta say... This is my FAVORITE FOOD EVER!!! The service is always very polite and everyone is wonderful, even when I ordered at 9pm for a carry out and didn't know they were closing they insisted that I order.
(5)Theresa O.
I visited Khom Fai for the first time last night, I just moved to this side of town and this is the closest thai food place to me and boy, am I lucky! I got the sampler appetizer, it had chicken satay (3), rangoons (3) and the spring rolls (3). All were amazing, the spring rolls were perfectly rolled and had great flavors, and the rangoons! YUM. crab and cream cheese fried? you had me at crab... The chicken satay was also delicious, the peanut sauce was great. My friend and I both ordered pad thai with tofu. I always try the pad thai first, then go from there. I must say it was some of the best pad thai I have ever had. The tofu was plentiful, crisp and delicious. The sauce was perfect, there were plenty of bean sprouts and peanuts, seriously the perfect combination. I ordered the medium and I could have went a little higher, but there was still heat to my dish. My friend ordered extra spicy and she said it was awesomely hot. (runny nose and all!) my only slight negative is that my friend and I wanted to pay separately, so the girl put us on two different tickets. Since she only ordered the pad thai, hers came out quicker than mine. I would maybe have some sort of way to tell the kitchen two separate orders, but came together or something. But don't get me wrong, mine was still prompt. just came out at different times, we stayed and waited for the food. I have to also say, I am a big supporter of locally owned restaurants, and I know the owners are too. I have seen them a couple times at the restaurant I work at in Shelby Twp. (The Metropolitan Cafe') and I hope they loved it! I'm glad I finally got a chance to try Khom Fai, it was delicious and I will be back. (in fact, I'm eating my leftovers right now, and its STILL delectable.)

Welcoming atmosphere, easy-to-read menu with Americanized descriptions of authentic Thai food. Fresh and generous portions for the price, unique menu options that I've never seen at any other Thai places (Thai iced tea, Thai iced coffee, summer rolls, Thai fried ice cream, homemade coconut ice cream.....) Clean, warm decor.

My husband and i finally decided to try this place after driving by many times. the decor was really cute and the color of the room made it feel warm. we started with spring and summer rolls. they were both very good. the food here tastes very clean and fresh. lemongrass soup is excellent, puts'ewe and gang gai were both very good. it's a little different than what we were used to, but something really pleased our pallet. i will definitely come back here many more times. i noticed lots of carry-outs being taken out. fried ice cream is a must try.

Ever since it opened up I have wanted to try Khom Fai and I finally did a couple weeks ago. I was not disappointed. The Pad Thai and the Papaya salad are my favorites. I came in for take-out and was surprised that the server had even asked if i wanted`anything to drink while I waited. I can't wait to go back.

We returned this weekend and had a much better experience. While the waitstaff was a little flustered, especially when a crowd of carry-out orders came in, they tried to stay on top of everything and was gracious throughout. We ordered the exact same meal and hubby loved the chicken, the spring roll and pad se ew was great. Next time, I'm trying something else!

Tonight we ate for the first time at Khom Fai. As we were looking over the menu trying to make a decision, the owner Isiah, came over, introduced himself and explained some of the dishes we were unfamiliar with. We ordered the Papaya salad, Pad thai with vegtables and the Red Curry with Chicken. Everything was great. The waitress kept checking back to see what we needed, as well as the owner. I would recommend this restaurant and we will be back.

Amazing food. I love Thai food. My uncle moves to Thai for winter and I never can find food authentic enough to even compare. Khom fai really captures what Thai is all about. This is a must try! The employees are friendly, the atomsphere is warm and welcoming, the prices are very reasonable.

This place blew me away. We went in and asked what dishes could be made vegan. The hostess went to check with the chef. He came out and actually sat down with us and explained he could adapt really anything on the menu. We asked what he recommended, and he said he would just make us a bunch of different stuff to try. He proceeded to send out a 5-course tasting menu. Everything was delicious, and modified especially for us. The waitress told us she was jealous because the dessert he sent out is something he never makes. After we were done, he came back out and sat with us again to see how we liked everything and basically educate us on the food and cooking techniques. He was really enthusiastic and well-versed. He asked our names, and I feel like the next time we go in (which will be very soon), he'll remember us. Justin is the most accommodating chef I've ever had cook for me. I'll be sure to direct anyone and everyone there. You don't find that combo of food/service very often. -Ericka (with the Steve Maddens)
